Cape Cod

I've always wanted to visit Cape Cod - there are so many famous places and names associated with it in history and fiction... So I hired a car for my last weekend in Massachusetts and went exploring...

	The railroad to Cape Cod
	The canal that now separates Cape Cod from the mainland.
	The harbour at Woods Hole.
	A survey ship on the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution jetty - the departure point for many famous voyages of exploration.
	A smaller WHOI vessel.
	I thought I'd do this to show you the difference between the picture off the camera (left) and the finished product (right) after processing in my "digital darkroom"...

	Lunch. I've been trying to eat healthily while I'm in the USA, but not so much at the weekends...
	Three US Coastguard cutters ready to put to sea.

	It was moved inland about 10 years ago to rescue it from erosion. This plaque marks the old site.

	Yes, it's yet another shot of Cape Cod lighthouse...
	Finally, something different. The Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower first set foot on land in Provincetown at the end of the cape. This rather impressive tower commemorates their landing.
	OK so I may have stopped taking pictures of the lighthouse, but I still can't resist these clouds.

	Saying goodbye to Provincetown as I set off home. I'd love to say I felt the sand between my toes, but I hate having sand in my shoes so I didn't bother...
